Before You Break Up That Old Concrete Slab
An unwanted concrete slab can look deceptively simple.
You see concrete.
You break concrete.
You remove concrete.
But once work starts, you might discover reinforcing inside the slab, more thickness than expected, underground services nearby or far more rubble than you planned to move.
That’s why the preparation matters just as much as the breaking.
Before concrete removal starts, think about:
- What could be underneath the slab
- How thick and reinforced it is
- How dust will be controlled
- Which removal method suits the job
- Where the broken concrete will go
Smaller slabs can sometimes suit DIY removal. Larger, thicker and reinforced slabs can quickly become a very different project.
Read the full guide to removing a concrete slab and see what the job involves from preparation through to disposal.
